Real Estate - Days

Our first post on Real Estate was a year ago, the buzz keeps building and their brand new album Days legitimizes the hype.

Here's a great write up about the band by our friends at artistmixtapes

"There is an old stereotype which claims that nothing all that interesting comes out of New Jersey. Out shadowed by New York City, the monstrous hub of all things creative and cultural, it’s easy to forget that New Jersey has been home to some of the most memorable bands and musicians in rock and roll history.  Real Estate is a band that is helping us to remember that even though New Jersey is suburban and humble, awesome music is still being made in its calm and quiet environment.  Granted, listening to Real Estate transports you away from quiet neighbourhoods with sidewalks full of parents and kids, and instead places you in warm and hazy days lazing around at the beach.  This band knows the importance of escapism, something that is rooted in suburban life, and is the essence of all great music.  Real Estate’s hypnotic rhythms and interlacing guitar lines are enough to take you back to those sunny days, and their melodies and hooks are smart and memorable."

Real Estate - "It's Real"

Their sophomore album, Days, is due out October 17 via one of UK's increasingly popular indie labels, Domino Records. (Mentioned here this February and late last year)

Real Estate - "It's Real"

"Recorded in Upstate New York through the late winter/spring of 2011 with Kevin McMahon (The Walkmen, Titus Andronicus), Days is a gorgeous suite of timelessly melodic, achingly melancholy pop songs and a delightfully confident follow-up to 2009’s exceptionally well-received eponymous debut."

Good to see the already infectious "Out Of Tune" from last year get a rework and make the cut for inclusion on the LP.

Real Estate

The "psychedelic surf pop" band that brought one of my favorite singles from 2010, Real Estate, released a great new demo last week called "Blue Lebaron."  Embrace this purely instrumental piece for what it is and you'll probably end up thinking back to last summer's carefree Saturday afternoons, kickin' it on the front porch swing havin a cold one.  Time to go home old man winter.

Real Estate - "Out of Tune"

They've been listed on Stereogum's "Band to Watch" list and Pitchfork coined their 2009 debut LP, self-titled Real Estate, "Best New Music," so I'm not the first one to appreciate Real Estate's sound.  With bass, percussion, bongos, and guitars this New Jersey band takes a laid back approach to indie rock evoking images of relaxing on a front porch or sitting by the beach all day.  Last month, in conjunction with True Panther Sounds, they released this single, "Out of Tune," which keeps anticipation high for their next album.
