Dom - Family of Love

Dom's second EP, Family of Love, is officially out August 9, but "Damn" sneaked out a few weeks ago and here's the full stream.  It's another expectantly synth-powered psychedelia surf rock track that's perfect for the summer life at the beach.

Troysnoise unearthed Dom way back in October last year during CMJ at Bowery Ballroom when the Mass-based foursome was just breaking onto the scene.  From the short previews of this second EP, it sounds like the dudes are continuing down the right road.

Mathieu Santos - "I Can Hear The Trains Coming"

The bassist from Ra Ra Riot, Mathieu Santos, announced this week the upcoming release of his solo album, Massachusetts 2010.  With that message came this preview.

Santos currently boats a Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass - white with a gold pickguard.

From Mathieu - It's going to be available both digitally and in a very limited pressing (500 hand-numbered copies, sick!) on smoking-hot white vinyl. If you want to get a copy of the vinyl, please do it quickly – I’m told that the album is available for pre-order at some kind of early-bird discount ($18) from now until the end of May in the Barsuk shop, along with a limited-edition 7" single on some pretty green vinyl (via the good folks at Old Flame Records).

Dom - "Bowl Cut" (feat. Cults)

With only seven songs to sit on from their 2010 debut EP, we've been patiently waiting for the follow up from one of our favorite new groups, the lo-fi indie punk rock guys called Dom

Late last week, collaborating with New York-based Cults, the call was answered with a new digitally released single called "Bowl Cut."  The cover art for what will ultimately be a 7" in early February, is a childhood picture of lead vocals Dom himself.  The single is cut from the same cloth as Dom's original work, with the Cults' smooth indie pop perfectly infused into Dom's scratchy garage rock.  Now we just need more of it.

Also, check out Aislyn's remix of the single, available for free download from Dom's website.

Dom - Sun Bronzed Greek Gods

Sun Bronzed Greek GodsDOM started playing together just this January and have some buzz building about their first EP - Sun Bronzed Greek Gods.  I had the chance to see them Saturday at Bowery Ballroom and their energetic and catchy post-punk, surf rock sound was great.  Lead man, Dom, looks like he's been teleported straight out of Wayne's World and has plenty of personality to go around, as you'll see in the below interview.

Their style is wide-ranging, from "Bochicha," sounding like a Beach Boys and Sublime collaboration, to the synth-infused "Living in America," (video below) resembling the MGMT indie electric rock style.  You'll notice the vocals are a little muffled on some of their tracks; that's because being these unsigned startups (claiming to be on Lil' Wayne's label on their myspace page) recorded the EP in lo-fi on their own.  "Living in America" and "Jesus" are their two most popular tracks, which you can out below, along with an excerpt from an interview Dom did a few months ago.
