Oxford - "White Pearl"

The plate du jour - French Funk, with service compliments of French native Oxford (not to be confused with the British town).

Oxford - "White Pearl" - Pleasant, glittering, fuuuuunky, Daft Punk-esque.  What the song lacks in vocals it makes up for in woodwinds.  If you don't believe us, fast forward to 2:22 and you'll hear what sounds like a speed trip through the Museum of Natural History (Native American and Space exhibits included).

Oxford - "Flashlight" - The sounds of outerspace are distorted through a funk-infused kaleidoscope.  Despite its simple beat structure, the track is great if you find yourself wearing a party hat lost at the rollerskating rink on disco-night.  Keep those feet moving.

The collectif d'artistes flaunting "pop/electro" added another to the cast last week.
What other artists are hiding under their silk beret?

Moullinex - "Fauna"

In Moullinex's new release entitled "Fauna", it's as if sounds from a dinosaur-age jungle were fast forwarded into one hundred years from now and landed in the middle of a floating dance club on Mars.  Dig it.

And a note from the owner of InGen himself:

...suited for the dancefloor. Hope you dig them, and if you do, play them out, they're made for that!

Else

It's becoming more and more challenging these days to be the first one to unearth an emerging musician, which makes the occasions when it does happen even more splendid.  Else delivers today's magnificence and is delivered by an electronic music label out of Toulouse, France called L'ordre.

If this teaser video and three tracks don't get you amped, check your pulse.

Paradis

The electronic pop duo Paradis released this single as a taste test for the 12" due out on May 22.

After their debut 12" (and the label's debut release) in the fall of 2011, Paradis offers "Hémisphère" and "Je m'ennuie", another pair of sophisticatedly crafted, noir-pop songs from the young Parisian duo.

On the two tracks of their second 12", Paradis self-reflect to find an escape hatch away from themselves. The A-Side, "Hémisphère", a macabre story of a lonely guest of life determined to leave everything behind, defies the narrative's convention and captivates with pop melodies and up beats abound.

And from Paradis' earlier work - "Parfait Tirage"

Air - Le Voyage Dans La Lune

When the producers of a new version of Le Voyage Dans La Lune approached Air to soundtrack Georges Méliès' legendary silent film, they were asking for the moon. Made in 1902, the 14-minute film is not just considered a master-class in pioneering special effects, but the first science fiction movie ever made. When a decomposing hand-coloured print of the film was discovered in 1993, the producers had the chance to finally restore it to its former glory, but they wanted a new, contemporary score - Nicholas Godin and Jean- Benoît Dunckel provided an elegant solution to their problem.  Le Voyage Dans La Lune (a trip to the moon) is used as a soundtrack for the colorized restored version of the film.

Air - "Sonic Armada"

The new album officially released on February 6th, listen to it, then buy it, then keep listening.

Popular Computer - "Lointain" (Robotaki remix)

Popular Computer - Lointain (Robotaki remix)

Popular Computer is Sylvain Dalido from Paris, France.  Three years in the making, Popular Computer will be delivering a new album called LiTE February 6th, 2012.

"Beautifully sunny summer sounds mixed with the Japanese simplicity for melody and arrangement. LiTE is a thoroughly modern piece of work, a very distinct take on French electronic music. Coming out this year on new label home, Schmooze (Chilly Gonzales and Housse De Racket), LiTE is preceded by this single "Lointain", which features this remix from hot North American producer Robotaki."

M83 - "Midnight City" [video]

The music video for M83‘s lead single “Midnight City” has arrived just in time for the release of Anthony Gonzalez’s double-disc album “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming” (out today via Mute), and we had a hunch that the dream theme shed a light that is more supernatural than ethereal. As a record that revolves around how one dreams throughout his or her life, it makes sense that the clip for its standout track focuses on breaking through boundaries. Part “X-Men” for kids and part “Village of the Damned,” Fleur & Manu’s short film presents the story of telekinetic children who escape from a boarding school and freely use their powers in an abandoned warehouse. -BuzzBands

Digikid84 - Timelapse

If Knight Rider or Miami Vice was still on the tele, Digikid84 would be first ballot for the opening credits.

If Quincy Jones and Prince had given birth to a love brat in 2009, it would’ve been him. The recipe: fingers running on a 80s keyboard and funky bass that can even make the dead dance.

Digikid84 - "Funk You"

Digikid84 - "Rebel"

The funk disco meets electro house on Timelapse is his debut release as the Paris-based act now hits the touring circuit.  Get it here - Timelapse

SebastiAn - Total

Justice is just one of a growing list of French electro artists on the Ed Banger label worthy of acclaim, as producer and DJ SebastiAn is back with Total, his first non-soundtrack album since 2008 and his first since his debut live performance in 2009.  The Total teaser track a few months ago, "Embody," tops the best of the year so far and is accompanied by the video, directed by Banger's So Me.

Guest appearances on the twenty two track album (eight of which are under a minute long) include M.I.A., Mayer Hawthorne and Justice's Gaspard Augé.  With a scheduled May 30th release in Europe and June 7th here in the states, these originals and eventual remixes will soon find their way into the trendy lounges and clubs nearest you.
