RAC - "Hollywood" (feat. Penguin Prison)

RAC - "Hollywood"

And here it is, the remix genius presents his first original single entitled "Hollywood" feat. Penguin Prison.

From humble beginnings in a dorm room at Southern Illinois' Greenville College, RAC (aka André Allen Anjos) has steadily grown a dedicated dance music fan base with methodical and catchy remixes that stay true to the original songs. In "Hollywood (featuring Penguin Prison)", fans have the opportunity to hear the very first track that RAC created from scratch. With a chorus that you can't forget and strong vocals from Penguin Prison's Chris Glover, the track is the perfect debut from Anjos. For more watch this intro video.

Field Music - Plumb

Field Music are a band from Sunderland, England who formed in 2004. The band's core consists of brothers David and Peter Brewis (who at one time played drums for fellow Sunderland band The Futureheads), with Andrew Moore.

Field Music - "Guillotine"

Field Music - "Who'll Pay The Bills?"

Field Music have been celebrated as one of the few bands to transcend and outlast the short-lived NME-generated "post-punk revival" of the mid-noughties. Describing the band as "a truly artful proposition in the pseud-filled landscape of contemporary Brit art-rock", music blog The Fantastic Hope puts this down in part to their "un-self-conscious anti-fashion stance", arguing that Field Music's "wayward pop from the fringes of academia is one of the most worthwhile ways in which rock//indie/guitar music/white pop/whatever might evolve."

Pond - Beard, Wives, Denim

Think TV On The Radio meets Tame Impala.  Australia's Pond is a musical collective featuring an ever-changing line-up actually including three members of said Tame.  Last month they delivered a brand new album entitled Beard, Wives, Denim.  It's "an audio diary of ten friends' strange, terrible and blissful time in the country trying in vain to be a wholesome family band. It sounds just like it, distorted and woozy and fractured and ultimately nostalgic and loving."

Pond - "Moth Wings"

In 2010, at a friend's farmhouse in Eagle Bay, Western Australia, Pond piled in with all their instruments, amplifiers, friends, recording equipment and Sam Ford to record Beard, Wives, Denim.  After two weeks of Lord of the Flies-esque bonding with frisbee and guitars and absolutely no religion or wood chopping or wives or beards, the album was finished.

Milly Beau

After two years of New York City shows and long nights in the studio Milly Beau is back with twelve new sultry tracks.

Fronted by the soulful voice of MaryBeth Doran, they're inspired as much by Erikah Badu as they are by Wilco. Their songs sound "like a Friday night hustle meets Sunday morning reprieve."  Their debut release Party Glitter received critical acclaim from the likes of Glamour ("best new makeout music"), Blackbook Magazine, and Vogue Italia.

Put simply, this new album is really good.  With today's distracting overload of electronic dance and synth-based songs penetrating the mainstream, Milly Beau's soaring vocals and smooth instrumentation are a refreshing reminder of how pure and melodic new music can still be.

And don't forget about the previously released "Taylor."

St. Lucia

St. Lucia is what happens when the long and bleak winters of New York recede and summer emerges; giving birth to memories of childhood holidays, faded photos of exotic places and the dream of recapturing this. Inspired by his homeland of South Africa, his journey through the UK and relocation to Brooklyn, St Lucia could reference the sonics of Temper Trap, or the infectiousness of Empire of the Sun, but ultimately it is a wall of atmospherics crafted with an inordinate amount of time-consuming precision.

Best music video of 2011: Lovett - "The Fear"

Lovett was already featured in the Top 50 of 2011 and is one of the top emerging talents right now.  "The Fear" video hits so many of today's aspects of life - protest, struggle, tragedy, love, youth, dance, religion, as it conflates amongst disparate genders and ethnicities.  At the end, Lovett and his pulsating drum conclude by uniting the most important element of it all - the kids.

U.S. Royalty - "Sleepy Eyes"

If Oasis and Tracy Chapman drummed up a song, sitting around a campfire with a synth machine and bongos, it would sound like U.S. Royalty's "Sleepy Eyes."

Troysnoise first unearthed this D.C. band in July last year, covering their debut EP Mirrors

Electric Guest - "This Head I Hold"

They're from L.A. and Dangermouse is giving them a stamp of approval by producing their album Mondo, due out April 24.  Peep this track "This Head I Hold" which sounds like Gnarls Barkley meets motown.  If you're in Austin this week catch them at one of their four or five gigs.  Windish Agency (they book bands) has them under contract, the same agency who snagged Foster The People early in the game...

And the much different, 9 minute Troubleman...

Sleep Party People

The product of Danish multi-instrumentalist, Brian Batz, the album, titled We Were Drifting on a Sad Song, is eerily atmospheric, drawing inspiration from the works of Boards Of Canada, David Lynch, and classic movie soundtracks.

With the aid of an old drum machine, a piano and a guitar, a unique dreamlike universe arises.

The album is a collection of songs including both piano lullabies, instrumental songs and what seems like pop hits from a strange, better dimension. It has a depth and a grandeur that harkens back to the big dark albums of circa 20 years ago by The Cure, My Bloody Valentine or Slowdive while remaining extremely modern.

With an orchestra of 5 friends - all clad in bunny masks - the adventurous sound is enlarged and expanded live. The band is at times gentle and at times ferocious, and has - like the album - received 5 star reviews in Denmark. The five bunnies were also handpicked by The Antlers to follow them on their Scandinavian tour in march.

Catch the band live on their European tour starting on April 16th in Manchester, full tour dates below.

Wolf & Cub - "See The Light"

Off the double A side single “See The Light // All Through The Night”
Out now via the Wolf & Cub Bandcamp.

Produced, recorded and mixed by studio wunderkind Burke Reid (Gareth Liddiard, Jack Ladder, Dan Kelly) at Big Jesus Burger in Sydney, both "See The Light" and "All Through The Night" offer documented aural proof of an evolving band. "See The Light" is primarily driven by a snaky bass line, the reverb rich vocals deliver a subtle but persuasive hook tempered by chiming delayed guitars. Meanwhile, "All Through The Night" is dreamy pop floating on a fragile falsetto vocal, with amphetamine bass pulse, broad sonic guitar brush strokes and sparse drumming.

Shows in ADEL, MELB & SYD throughout March / April to launch the single. For all details head to www.wolfandcub.com
