help Heylady finish their debut album
Wednesday, January 25, 2012 For the first time, we're kind of sort of asking for some financial assistance. It's not for us though, it's for a good friend and band, Brooklyn-based funk soul masters Heylady. They're like most burgeoning young musicians in NYC - amazingly talented and passionate, yet under funded. With upcoming gigs booked at Hiro Ballroom and B.B. Kings, they're building a strong rep and are ready to put the final touches on their first studio album. They need your help to do it.
Check out the video above that they put together and peep the live version of "Okay"posted below. Then do what you can to help them out via their kickstarter page; in this era of music piracy and free streaming we can all afford to shell out a little keish for something like this.
Here's a note from the band themselves...
We've been together as a band for a while now...we've played tons of shows all over the east coast, some big, and some small. Whether it's opening for George Clinton and The Parliament Funkadelic in front of thousands of people, or playing an incredible wedding for friends of ours at a remote barn in Vermont, we love making music.
About a year ago we put together a self-produced EP that we recorded in our rehearsal space. It was a good start, but it doesn't quite capture what we're all about, so we set out to record our first full-length album the right way. We had some great friends help us out, connecting us with amazing studios, equipment, and engineers. We quickly realized, though, that the process costs many more dollars than we have to spend.
So we now turn to you – our fans, family, and friends – to ask for your help. This record means a whole lot to us and we can’t wait to get it to you -- Any contribution you can make is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!
We'll keep you all up to date on how it's going in the studio, and we'd love to hear from you, so please post on the comments tab, and thanks again!
Much love and gratitude,
Heylady
Editors note - way back in 2010 troysnoise inspired Heylady's most popular cover track - Kids of 88's "Downtown"
